Windygates 4-H Beef Club
The Windygates Beef Club was founded in 1948 in the Windygates district south of Darlingford. Achievements were held at Point Douglas School until the mid 50s when the achievement moved to the Manitou Fair. Although the original group hailed from the Windygates district, over time the club expanded to have members from the greater Darlingford area and even from other communities. The club is the longest running club in the area.
We currently have 22 members with 3/4s of them being Juniors and Cloverbuds. We definitely have a young and enthusiastic club. Our 4-H club is active in our community with events like the Darlingford Fall Supper, Manitou Honey Garlic Festival, Highway Cleanup and the Manitou Fair. We are also active in the Pembina Area 4-H Council activities such as Camp, Communications, the livestock event as well as other 4-H opportunities.
Our annual achievement is at the Manitou Fair and there we show steers, heifers and continuation heifers. We also have grooming and showmanship competitions and our annual steer sale.
Our members are busy "learning to do by doing!”
