RAPTOR FESTIVAL & RAPTOR TAKE FLIGHT
Raptor Festival committee has just received amazing news! An adult Bald Eagle will be released the day of the festival. You are invited to come experience the beauty and wonder of the natural world, highlighted by the return of thousands of migrating birds in the lovely Pembina Valley. La Riviere is hosting its sixth annual La Riviere Raptor Festival on Saturday, April 22 2017, from 10am to 4pm. Watch raptors and songbirds on their incredible journey of migration between their breeding ground in Canada and their wintering grounds in Mexico and Central and South America. And experience the thrill and excitement of the release of a wild bird, an adult male Bald Eagle, back to Mother Nature’s care.
This release has been made possible by the TLC that this Bald Eagle has received from Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre’s wonderful veterinaries and volunteers as they nursed him back to health after having received damage to one eye and his tail feathers. With his recovery at such an opportune time, the bird will be released on April 22nd at the La Riviere Raptor Festival, which is coincidentally Earth Day. The release will take place at 10:00am on the hill north of Highway #3 and Broadway Street, along the old railway line.
Be prepared for one spectacular event! Bring family and friends and help spread the word. We look forward to another amazing day! The day is free to all, thanks to the generous sponsorship by LUD of La Riviere, Pembina Valley Conservation District, Pembina Manitou Community Development Corporation, The Eagle 93.5FM and A Rocha Pembina Valley.
